Welcome to Dover District School

Caring Connected Curious

At Dover District School, we are proud to provide excellent education opportunities to all students in the Far South of Tasmania. We are privileged to live and work in such a beautiful part of the world and in such a vibrant community.

Our values of Caring, Connected, Curious guide the way we work. Our School Strategic Plan describes our aspirations and the rights and responsibilities of all our community members. I encourage you to read the plan to understand how we are committed to continuously improving outcomes for our young people.

As a district school, we offer education to all learners from birth to 18. Our Launching into Learning program works with parents and children from Birth to age 4 to prepare the children for their school years. From Kindergarten to Year 12, we teach students in line with the appropriate curriculum, using evidence-informed teaching strategies.

In 2024, our key focuses are reading and inclusive practice. The Department for Education, Children and Young People is committed to teaching all our students to be capable readers. At Dover, we are very proud of our evidence-based teaching of reading, both at a classroom level and for students who need extra support.

Our inclusive practices build a culture that supports every student to achieve. This involves creating a school-wide culture of learning, as well as providing adjustments to individual students based on their needs.

As educators, and as lifelong learners ourselves, we are constantly seeking to improve the learning outcomes for Dover students. Parents, families, and the wider community are a big part of school improvement, and we welcome your involvement. Please contact the school if you would like to know more about our wonderful school.
